Thoughts
First summer hike
The hiking trip was nice, but also exhausting. We went up Mt Gozen in Okutama, climbing from the lake side. There were quite a few steep slopes. I now have some serious muscle ache in my legs. The scenery along the way was serene and peaceful. The temperatures weren't that bad either - inside of the forest, the air was cool and refreshing, probably a few degrees lower than out in the sun. Already thinking about the next trip. I still want to explore nature, but now that summer has come, I think I'll look for some trails that require less climbing.
In a reading mood
I ended up enjoying "The Fish in the Window" more than I thought I would. I've already made some notes and will write a book review for the blog in the next few days. The ending felt a bit disjointed and rushed, but I loved the general atmosphere and the "different perspectives on the same series of events" concept. It's one of those books where the vibes are more important than the plot, and I tend to always like those. I'm in a reading mood recently, going to get the next book soon.
The temptations of discoverability
After clearing some things up, my blog is now being shown on the Discovery feed. I like the added discoverability, but I've also noticed how it influences your thinking. It can be very tempting to check if your posts have been upvoted, or think about what and how to write to get more people to read them. I don't really want to do that, though. I think it'll still affect me in subtle ways, but in general, I'll make sure to just post what I feel like without worrying about the "audience" too much.
