first thoughts on Obsidian
Around a month ago I installed Obsidian because I came across a random Bear Blog post mentioning it. I wouldn't say I have used it extensively, just every now and then ... but honestly? I see the appeal.
One of the features that I like the most is the graph view. It's very satisfying to see how all the thoughts I've made notes of are connected to each other. Granted, it doesn't actually give me all that much information to work with - but it's still cool.
This is my graph as of July 1st:

Aside from the visual coolness of the graph, I like how it makes me want to build further upon my own personal Wikipedia. Make more notes, make new connections ... until I've built a knowledge base shaped by my unique interests. It reminds me of the concept of the "digital garden" that I became interested in (also through Bear Blog) last month, but a bit more starter-friendly since it doesn't also require me to build a website for it.
I don't like how this posts kind of sounds like an ad, but eh ... sometimes you just like a thing, and a lot of the time that thing happens to be made by a corporation, for better or for worse. While I wouldn't call myself a full-on "Obsidianhead" just yet, I am enthusiastic about it. For now I'm just going to keep using its vanilla features and see what I can do with it.
