General happenings

Very art-heavy week. I've been consistently doing more than my self-mandated daily sketch, which is good! I also gave myself some hand / wrist pain from drawing too much (or maybe too long with awkward hand placement / movement), which is not so good. But overall I'm happy with where I'm heading, and it's been fun. For practice, I'm mostly still just drawing from reference and trying to figure things out myself, but I should really find some good tutorials on YouTube to train my skills in a bit more targeted manner.

The blog

Not much activity this week.

I've been thinking about using a Bluesky or Mastodon account in tandem with the blog (for short-form thoughts). Apparently you can setup Mastodon so that the posts self-delete after a certain amount of time, which is very appealing. I don't want commit literally every dumb thought to "eternity."

Listened to (music)

This week I was seeking for more of the kind of music that I've enjoyed recently: Electronic-leaning ambient mixes with some glitchy and texture-y elements. I've long been a fan of atmospheric ambient stuff, but right now I want some more direction, beats, melodic progressions etc.

Listened to (non-music)

One of my favourite podcasts! It was inactive for so long that the freely available episodes were just done now, but apparently that's not the case. They started reading a new book and it seems like there will be regular updates for the next one or two months or so - looking forward to it. I love the humour and snarky commentary. Favourite quote from this episode:

"We are losing the perks of living in the imperial core. There used to be Batman mugs that were 3D, now you get a Grogu-themed carton."
